I'm using Acrobat Pro version 9, running on Windows 7 Ultimate.  However, I've seen this same thing happen on systems running other versions of Acrobat and different versions of Windows.

It seems that any time Acrobat needs to open a dialogue window (eg. print or where to save a file, etc.), the dialogue window opens behind any other windows that are currently open.  If it weren't for the flashing button on the task bar, one wouldn't even know that it was there.  Why is this?  Is there some way to change it?

Hi Tabellae,

Are you saying that the dialog window for print, save a file, etc, are opening behind any other windows that are currently open in Acrobat or that the dialog window is opening in Acrobat but Acrobat (and thus the dialog window) are behind any other dialogs on your computer, such as Notepad, Internet Explorer, etc, that might be open?

Cheers,
- Rowan.

The Acrobat dialogue window will open behind any other windows that I might happen to have open (eg. Notepad, Internet Explorer, etc.), including the current Acrobat document window.

This is usually caused by a second mouse click back on the PDF so the computer loses focus on the pop-up window.

No, there is no second mouse click.  This has been going on for years.  I'm an IT consultant, and very careful about my "mouse clicks" Smile  But, I thank you for your reply.  Any other ideas?

It's strange behavior. Do you have more than one monitor attached to this computer? The display settings might be getting a little tangled up, but it's a long shot.

Pretty hard issue to troubleshoot, but perhaps if you are able to capture it using something like Screencast.com and post it here then we could look at it and that might trigger some other ideas?
