Has anyone else seen this?

I create an 11-page PDF document from InDesign with buttons. There are three buttons on each page. One goes back to page 1. One goes to the previous page. One goes to the next page.

No problem. They appear correctly when I open the PDF in Acrobat Pro X.

Then I apply complete password security options for no printing, no modifying, no copying—nothing except reading for screen readers.

As soon as I do, the button for the next page on page 3 disappears. There is a hotspot in the area, but clicking it does nothing.

And all the buttons on the rest of the pages disappear.

The same problem happens when I add the security in InDesign.

I'm able to fix it by duplicating the buttons that do appear on the pages.

But it's a pain.

Because I suspect InDesign is using form fields for actions try allowing form 'filling' in security options.

aandi,

But what about the fact that when I export without security from ID and then add the security in Acrobat the buttons disappear?

Is that a leftover from ID's settings?

And why would the buttons on the first two pages be unaffected?

No idea, but maybe worth a try.

Yay! The suggestion worked.

I'm not upset at the idea of allowing form filling since there are no forms in the document.

And it makes it a lot easier to create the secured PDF directly from InDesign
