Is there a java script I could add to a button in a file that would allow the user to save the file as a jpg without the button showing in the final jpg even in Reader?

My client wants a file they can interactively update then save as a jpg so they can post it on social media. They don't have access or the knowledge of how to use our programs just Acrobat Reader.

See How to https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-save-pdf-acrobat-javascript - Save a PDF with Acrobat JavaScript by Thom Parker. This will provide the custom save as function but you will need to code the add menu item or toolbar button scripts.
